THE SPIRIT IN YOU

You have seen who the Holy Spirit is.
Now you need to understand what it means that He is in you.

This is not a small idea. This is one of the most important realities in your life as a believer.

If this is not clear, you will try to live the Christian life in your own strength, and you will struggle in ways you were never meant to.

HE DOES NOT JUST COME NEAR YOU.
HE DWELLS IN YOU.

1 CORINTHIANS 6:19 (ESV)

“Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God?”

This means God’s Spirit is not distant. He is present within you.

Your life is now the place where He dwells. This is not something you feel all the time. It is something that is true whether you feel it or not.

Because the Spirit is in you, you are no longer living the same way you once did. Before, you were guided by your own thinking and your own desires. Now there is something different within you.

THE HELPER AND THE POWER

JOHN 14:16 (ESV)

“And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever.”

He is not temporary.
He does not come and go.
He remains with you.

The Spirit also brings life.

ROMANS 8:11 (ESV)

“If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you… he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you.”

The same power that raised Jesus from the dead is now at work in you.

That changes how you understand your ability to live differently. You are not relying on your own strength.

CHANGING THE MIND & CONFIRMING IDENTITY

The Spirit works in your thinking. Scripture teaches that those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit. This means your focus begins to change. What you value, what you pursue, and how you think begins to shift over time.

ROMANS 8:16 (ESV)

“The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God.”

This means you are not left guessing who you are. There is a real confirmation within you that you belong to God.

THE CALL TO RESPOND

At the same time, this does not mean everything becomes automatic. The Spirit is in you, but you are called to respond. You are called to walk in what He is doing.

Scripture teaches that you are to walk by the Spirit so that you do not carry out the desires of the flesh. This means your direction matters. You are not passive. You are active in following what is true.

You are no longer alone in your growth.
You are not trying to fix yourself.
You are not trying to force change.
You are learning to follow what God is doing within you.

This changes how you approach everything.

[ X ] When you are tempted, you are not powerless.

[ X ] When you are unsure, you are not without guidance.

[ X ] When you are growing, you are not doing it alone.

GOD IS IN YOU.

Let that settle.

Do not reduce this to a feeling. Do not ignore it because you do not always notice it. This is true whether you feel it or not.

THE SPIRIT IS IN YOU.

THAT IS REAL.

Now that you understand that the Spirit is in you, the next step is learning how to recognize His leading and respond to it correctly.
