TRIALS AND GROWTH

You are learning to walk with God daily. You are learning consistency, discipline, and how to stay steady.
Now you need to understand something that will shape your growth in a deeper way.

NOT SEPARATE FROM YOUR WALK.
THEY ARE PART OF IT.

A Dangerous Misunderstanding

Many people think that if they are following God correctly, life should become easier. When difficulty comes, they assume something is wrong or that they have failed. Scripture teaches the exact opposite.

JAMES 1:2–3 (ESV)

“Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness.”

Trials are not random. They have purpose.

They test your faith, and that testing produces something in you that cannot be built any other way.

REVEALING WHAT IS REAL

Trials reveal what is real. They show what you are relying on. They show whether your faith is rooted in truth or simply in comfort.

1 PETER 1:6–7 (ESV)

“In this you rejoice, though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been grieved by various trials, so that the tested genuineness of your faith… may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ.”

Faith that has not been tested is not yet proven.
Trials bring that testing.

This does not mean trials are easy. Scripture is clear that they are difficult. They bring pressure, uncertainty, and sometimes pain. But they are not without meaning.

THE CHAIN OF ENDURANCE

ROMANS 5:3–4 (ESV)

“Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope.”

[ 1 ] Trials produce ENDURANCE.

[ 2 ] Endurance produces CHARACTER.

[ 3 ] Character produces HOPE.

This is growth. Not surface change. Real change.

THE POWER OF DEPENDENCE

Trials also teach you dependence. When things are easy, it is easy to rely on yourself. When things become difficult, you begin to see how much you need God.

2 CORINTHIANS 12:9 (ESV)

“But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’”

Weakness is not failure.

It is where God’s strength becomes clear.

This means trials are not something to avoid at all costs. They are something you walk through with understanding. You do not pretend they are easy. You do not ignore the difficulty. But you do not lose direction.

You stay grounded.
You stay consistent.
You continue walking with God through it.

Trials do not mean God has left you. They do not mean you are off track. They are often part of how He grows you.

IN SIMPLE TERMS:

[ /// ] Trials test your faith.

[ /// ] Trials produce growth.

[ /// ] Trials build endurance.

[ /// ] Trials deepen your dependence on God.

DO NOT MISUNDERSTAND THEM.
DO NOT RUN FROM THEM.

WALK THROUGH THEM.

Now that you understand the purpose of trials, the next step is learning how to respond correctly when you are in them so you do not lose direction.
