CREATION VS.
EVOLUTION
A doctoral exhumation of the Fiat Decree and the metaphysical impossibility of the autonomous cosmos.THE ONTOLOGICAL DECREE
Origins are not a laboratory question; they are an ontological decree.
The foundational declaration of Genesis 1:1 (LSB) “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth” is the terminal boundary of human reasoning. This is the doctrine of Creation out of Nothing.
Modern evolutionary theory approaches the cosmos as a canvas of self-assembly; Scripture approaches it as a sacred stewardship initiated by the Divine Order of the Creator. Once the **Logos** is removed from the origin, humanity no longer receives its identity from God, but attempts to construct it within the void of chance.
THE UNIFORMITARIAN FALLACY
To maintain historical orthodoxy, we must examine the presuppositional gap between the **Divine Blueprint** and the Uniformitarian assumption. Science relies on the uniformity of nature, consistent and predictable laws.
However, the materialist model cannot account for this uniformity. If the universe is the result of chaotic chance, there is no logical reason for the laws of physics to remain constant. Scripture asserts that the heavens exist by the Word of God (2 Peter 3:5, LSB). Science is impossible without the Lawgiver.
INFORMATION & THE LOGOS
The materialist requires a belief in the inherent creative power of matter: a form of modern Materialistic Monism. Biblical theology asserts the primacy of the **Logos** (John 1:3, LSB).
Without a Mind, information the digital code of DNA has no source. Chance cannot produce a semiotic system. To say that life evolved from nothing is to deny the most basic laws of Information Theory. Biological code requires a Coder.
THE VOID OF REDUCTIONISM
The fossil record cannot explain why life exists, why consciousness emerges, or why meaning itself survives within the human soul. Biblical theology asserts the reality of Entropy and the Curse. In Romans 8:20 (LSB), we find the “subjected to futility” decree.
Death is not the engine of creation; it is the “last enemy” (1 Corinthians 15:26, LSB) to be destroyed. To suggest that God used millions of years of death to produce His image is to misinterpret the character of the **Initiating Christ**.
CONSCIOUSNESS & IMAGO DEI
The biblical worldview does not reduce humanity to an upgraded animal struggling toward meaning. Man is not a cosmic accident ascending from biological chaos; he is the image-bearer of God, uniquely endowed with moral consciousness, rationality, and spiritual accountability.
The complexity of the cosmos is a judicial witness. Romans 1:20 (LSB) declares that His invisible attributes are clearly seen through what has been made. The modern collapse of identity arises when we ignore this witness, forfeiting our status as created stewards of the **Divine Order**.
DISARMING DISTORTIONS
“Textual Immediacy”
THE ASSUMPTION:God used natural selection to bring about biological diversity.
THE EVIDENCE:The text presents creation as a direct act of divine decree rather than a process of death (Romans 5:12, LSB).
“The Six-Day Limit”
THE ASSUMPTION:Millions of years occurred between Genesis 1:1 and 1:2.
THE EVIDENCE:Exodus 20:11 (LSB): “In six days Yahweh made the heavens and the earth.” The Law is grounded in the duration of the decree.
“Semantic Constraint”
THE ASSUMPTION:The “days” of Genesis 1 refer to massive geological ages.
THE EVIDENCE:The use of “evening and morning” with a numeric qualifier in the Hebrew text denotes a solar day. Context establishes the terminal definition.
THE TERMINAL VERDICT
To treat creation as a negotiable doctrine is to forfeit the right to speak of the New Creation. If the first Adam did not literally fall in a literal garden, then the second Adam (1 Corinthians 15:45 (LSB)) died for a metaphorical sin.
We do not honor the Sovereign God by attempting to reconcile His Word with the fluctuating myths of the age. The goal is the restoration of God’s order for human flourishing and the visibility of the Gospel.
“The biblical vision of the world is one of received meaning, not constructed chaos. We do not honor the Creator by surrendering our origins to chance; we honor Him by bowing to the Word that spoke the cosmos into immediate being.”
