WHO THE HOLY SPIRIT IS

You have seen who you are in Christ. You have seen that you are made new, brought into God’s family, and set free from sin. Now you need to understand how you are able to live this out.

NOT A FORCE.
HE IS GOD.

You are not doing this alone. God has given you His Spirit.

The Holy Spirit is not a force, a feeling, or an influence. He is God. Scripture speaks of the Holy Spirit personally, not as something impersonal. Jesus refers to Him as “He,” not “it,” and describes Him as one who teaches, guides, and speaks.

JOHN 14:16–17 (ESV)

“And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever, even the Spirit of truth… You know him, for he dwells with you and will be in you.”

[ X ] THE HELPER: He is given to you to help you live the life you have been called to live.

[ X ] FOREVER: This is not a temporary assignment. His presence is permanent.

[ X ] SPIRIT OF TRUTH: He does not lead you into confusion or contradiction. He leads in alignment with what God has revealed.

HE DWELLS IN YOU

The Holy Spirit is not distant.

1 CORINTHIANS 6:19 (ESV)

“Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God?”

This is not symbolic.

God’s Spirit is not just near you. He is in you.

Because of this, your life is no longer lived in your own strength. You are not trying to follow God by effort alone. You have been given His Spirit to guide, teach, and strengthen you.

THE SPIRIT AT WORK

JOHN 14:26 (ESV)

“But the Helper, the Holy Spirit… he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.”

The Holy Spirit teaches.
You are not left to figure everything out on your own. As you grow in the Word, the Spirit brings clarity and understanding.
ROMANS 8:14 (ESV)

“For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God.”

The Holy Spirit leads.
Being led does not mean being controlled without thought. It means being guided in truth as you walk in obedience.
GALATIANS 5:22–23 (ESV)

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control”

The Holy Spirit works in you to change you. This is what begins to grow in your life as you walk with Him. This is not something you produce on your own. It is what the Spirit produces in you.

JOHN 16:8 (ESV)

“And when he comes, he will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment”

The Holy Spirit convicts.

This is not condemnation. This is clarity. He shows you what is not right so you can respond and continue walking forward.

BECAUSE OF THIS, THE HOLY SPIRIT IS ESSENTIAL.

You cannot live the life you have been called to live without Him.

/// You are not alone. ///
/// You are not relying on your own strength. ///
/// You are not trying to figure everything out by yourself. ///

GOD IS IN YOU. WORKING IN YOU. AND LEADING YOU.

LET THAT BE CLEAR.

Now that you understand who the Holy Spirit is, the next step is understanding how He works in your daily life and how to follow His leading.
