WHEN YOU FEEL DISTANT

You are learning to stay consistent. But there will be times where something feels off.
You may still read. You may still pray. But it feels distant.

FEELING DISTANT IS NOT
THE SAME AS BEING DISTANT.

This is where you must be clear.

JAMES 4:8 (ESV)

“Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you.”

This is not based on your emotions. It is based on what is true.

There will be times where your feelings do not match reality. You may feel disconnected. You may feel distracted. You may feel like nothing is happening. That does not mean God has moved.

HE DOES NOT LEAVE

The Bible teaches that God does not leave you.

HEBREWS 13:5 (ESV)

“I will never leave you nor forsake you.”

NEVER MEANS NEVER.

Not when you feel strong. Not when you feel weak. Always.

So when you feel distant, you do not assume the covenant has broken. You respond correctly. You return to what is true.

You stay in the Word. You continue in prayer. Even when it feels dry.

PREACHING TO YOUR SOUL

Scripture calls for this kind of steadiness.

PSALM 42:5 (ESV)

“Why are you cast down, O my soul… Hope in God”

This shows something important. Your feelings can be real. But they are not always right. You do not follow them. You bring them back to truth.

DIAGNOSING THE DISTANCE

[ 1 ] DISTRACTION: Your attention is pulled in different directions. Your focus is not steady. In those moments, you bring your attention back.

[ 2 ] SIN: Something has been ignored. Something needs to be addressed.

In those moments, you do not hide in guilt. You confess, you repent, and you return.

1 JOHN 1:9 (ESV)

“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

You do not stay distant. You come back into fellowship.

THE QUIET SEASONS

Other times, there is no clear reason. It simply feels quiet. This is where faith becomes real.

2 CORINTHIANS 5:7 (ESV)

“for we walk by faith, not by sight.”

You do not base your walk on what you feel.
You base it on what God has said.

This is how you stay steady. Not chasing a feeling. Standing in truth. Over time, this builds strength. You stop depending on emotion and you start living from what is real.

IN SIMPLE TERMS:

/// Feeling distant does not mean God is distant. ///
/// Do not follow your feelings. ///
/// Return to truth. ///
/// Stay consistent. ///

KEEP WALKING.

EVEN WHEN IT FEELS QUIET.
