LOGICAL ABSOLUTES
& ONTOLOGY
We are moving past superficial arguments. We do not place God in the courtroom of human reason to be judged; we demonstrate that without the Triune God, the very floorboards of the courtroom collapse.
EPISTEMOLOGY AND THE.
MYTH OF NEUTRALITY.
Epistemology is the philosophical study of knowledge how we justify what we claim to know. The great delusion of the Enlightenment is that the human mind is an autonomous, neutral judge capable of objectively weighing the evidence for God. Scripture annihilates this premise. The human mind is not neutral; it is fallen and actively hostile to its Creator.
“For even though they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God or give thanks, but they became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing to be wise, they became fools…”
The Impossibility of the Contrary
Presuppositional Transcendentalism.
Advanced Christian apologetics does not merely argue that God is “highly probable.” It utilizes the Transcendental Argument (TAG), which proves the Impossibility of the Contrary. It demonstrates that the secular worldview lacks the necessary philosophical infrastructure to account for the preconditions of intelligibility (logic, science, and morality). The atheist must borrow Christian capital assuming a rational, orderly universe just to construct an argument against God. They are sitting in God’s lap in order to slap His face.
THE TRILEMMA OF LOGIC
Atheists demand logical proof for God, yet naturalism cannot account for the existence of logic itself. When pressed on the nature of the Laws of Logic (such as the Law of Non-Contradiction), the secularist faces a devastating philosophical trilemma:
The Orthodox Conclusion:
The Laws of Logic are immaterial, universal, and invariant. Therefore, they legally necessitate an immaterial, universal, invariant Mind to sustain them. They are the reflections of the thinking of the Triune God. As John 1:1 declares, in the beginning was the Logos (the organizing principle of reason and truth).
ONTOLOGY: THE GROUND OF BEING
Ontology is the study of *being* and existence. When we define God, we are not describing a highly evolved superhero living inside the universe. We are describing the uncreated, necessary ground of existence itself. This requires us to understand classical Christian theism at its deepest level.
Actus Purus & Divine Aseity
The Uncaused First Cause.
Everything in the physical universe is contingent; it possesses potentiality (the ability to change, grow, or decay) and relies on something else to actualize it. You are contingent upon oxygen, gravity, and your parents.
God, however, possesses Aseity (absolute self-existence). He is Actus Purus (Pure Actuality). God has zero passive potential. He does not “learn,” “develop,” or “become” better, because to have potential implies that He is currently lacking something. If God had potential, an external force would be required to actualize Him, making that external force greater than God. He is infinitely, eternally, and completely perfect.
Because God is the necessary ground of all being, He alone possesses the power of Creatio Ex Nihilo (creation out of nothing). God did not rearrange pre-existing cosmic materials; He spoke reality into existence by the sheer omnipotence of His will.
“And He is the radiance of His glory and the exact representation of His nature, and upholds all things by the word of His power.”
THE PROBLEM OF INDUCTION
This ontological reality directly grounds the scientific method. Secularism champions science, but cannot philosophically justify the Uniformity of Nature. Why should we assume that the future will resemble the past? Why should gravity work the same way tomorrow? In a random, undirected universe of colliding atoms, there is zero logical guarantee that the cosmos will remain orderly.
An atheist expects the sun to rise tomorrow based purely on blind, ungrounded faith. The Christian, however, has an ontological justification for science: The universe operates according to uniform laws because it is continuously upheld by the unbroken providence of a rational, covenant-keeping Creator.
MORAL ONTOLOGY: DESTROYING THE DILEMMA
Atheists frequently confuse moral epistemology with moral ontology. They say, “I don’t need a Bible to know that murder is wrong!” That is Epistemology (how we *know*), and the Christian agrees Romans 2 says the law is written on their hearts. But the apologetic question is Ontology (what actually *makes* it wrong). In a godless, evolutionary universe, *why* does the objective category of “evil” exist outside of human preference?
NIHILISM VS. TELEOLOGY
Without an ultimate, transcendent Mind, we are left with the bleak reality of Existential Nihilism. If naturalism is true, human life is a temporary biochemical accident hurtling toward the heat death of the universe. In this framework, whether you live your life as Mother Teresa or Adolf Hitler, your ultimate cosmic destiny is exactly the same: absolute nothingness. The secularist must invent subjective “meaning” to distract themselves from the abyss.
Biblical worldview training destroys this despair. You are not a cosmic accident. You operate under Teleology you were designed with an ultimate end and purpose. Life possesses objective meaning, intrinsic value, and eternal consequence precisely because it has an objective, eternal Author.
APOLOGETICS AS WORSHIP.
To plunge into the depths of epistemology, Actus Purus, and logical absolutes is not an exercise in dry, academic vanity. It is the glorious, terrifying task of loving the Lord your God with all your mind. We defend the faith not to boast in our intellectual superiority, but to demonstrate the unmatched majesty of the Christian worldview.
An intellect disconnected from love is a clanging cymbal. The very logic that holds our thoughts together is grounded in a Person. We wield these elite tools to surgically dismantle the lies that hold humanity hostage, pointing them to the One who is the Way, the Truth, and the Life.
